It's been said that life and business are a marathon, not a sprint. With that, score one for sneaker giant Adidas AG (ADS:XETRA, ADDYY:OTC). The first and second place runners at last Sunday's Boston Marathon wore Adidas shoes and are sponsored by Adidas. First place set a new course record. Investors rewarded Adidas shares in Monday's session, per Guru Focus. "Adidas' lightest shoes ever were behind the first sub-2 hour marathon," writes Wired. "Why Adidas is sprinting ahead," according to Footwear News. Some industry observers have gone as far as questioning whether Adidas' new tech should be banned in officially sanctioned competitions, which counterintuitively is actually great free PR for the product. When museums such as the Smithsonian publish articles about the science of your product, you know you're onto something. Moreover, Adidas posted stronger than expected quarterly earnings this week, per Yahoo Finance. Furthermore, Bundesliga, the organization that oversees Germany's football leagues, agreed to a €100 million investment from Adidas, reports The Athletic. The news was tempered somewhat by global strife as it's become "Difficult to get Adidas goods into Middle East due to war, CEO says," per Reuters. On Friday, ADDYY shares closed ▼12.77% and ADS shares closed ▼12.81% year-to-date. Nonetheless, investors were bullish on Adidas shares this week.
